Dhow 3 Door Cabinet
£12,150 – £16,800
The Dhow family of furniture is inspired by the billowing sails of traditional Omani sailing boats – an important part of the nation’s maritime history.
Bethan has captured the movement of the sails in a hand-drawn pattern and with the play of the light by matching the direction of the veneer to the curved sections of solid metal.
The sweep of the Dhow pattern is meticulously crafted in Muscat by our master craftspeople from over 60 linear metres of solid brass, copper or nickel and paired with precision hand-made bespoke hinges.

We use Italian straight grain and Bird’s Eye maple veneer, both hand dyed and laser cut to fit the flowing lines of the Dhow pattern, but each piece is laid with its grain travelling in different directions, depending on the pattern, in order for the light to catch at different angles. This lends a three-dimensional depth and texture to the pattern which lends each piece a unique movement and interest.
The pattern is created by overlaying long, thin brass strips which translate the Dhow lines Bethan initially drew on paper. Great care has to be taken not to damage these fragile, malleable strips; these can only be cut to a certain length so we had to adjust the pattern to make the strips work.
Each cabinet is designed with adjustable feet which Shamsian and his team turn by hand on a metal lathe, completed with a highly polished but tactile finish.
