The Glenlivet Winchester Collection Launch

Bethan Gray created a multi-sensory experience at The Glenlivet distillery to celebrate the launch of Vintage 1967, the third addition to The Winchester Collection of limited-edition 50-year-old single malts. The day culminated in whisky cocktails and dinner at the Still House, transformed for the evening into a field of barley lit by shards of sunlight, with a single dining table running down the centre.

‘I love nothing more than collaborating with people to tell stories through craft, so it was wonderful to work with Clare Smyth MBE to create a menu befitting of her two-Michelin-starred restaurant that celebrated Vintage 1967 by taking us on a journey of discovery through food.’

From the Isle of Mull scallop roasted over whisky barrels to a Vintage-1967-inspired twist on Smyth’s signature ‘core-teaser’ dessert, the specially created meal was served on Lustre tableware – a collaboration between Bethan Gray and 1882 Ltd – with a mother of pearl side plate and embroidered place settings.

‘Across my approach to design, Alan Winchester’s approach to whisky and Clare Smyth’s approach to food, there is a real focus and appreciation of craft and on the use of natural materials. They are all very humane industries, with an emphasis on the quality of the end-product and ensuring it connects with the end-user.’
